Jan and I live in Syracuse, NY, an area designated to natives as Central New York - as opposed to Upstate, Fingerlakes region, Hudson Valley, or The City. We came here when Jan was offered a postdoctoral position at Syracuse University.
I am by birth a Michigander, and it still holds a fond place in my heart. Lucky for us, NY has a nearby border to Lake Ontario, one of the Great Lakes, for when I crave big sweet water.
We are still discovering what Central New York life is like. So far we like the landscape. Syracuse itself, has plenty of natural draws and a rich interesting history. However, if you live here even a few months you come to realize it needs some help at revitalization
